Marian Baker

Marian Baker is a fun loving contemporary folk artist from Alabama. She has been creating her whimsical pieces for about 10 years, and has gained quite the following of admirers and collectors. We’re happy to “expose her” to our "folk art family."

Her artworks are created with love and whimsey, plus fabrics, acrylic paint, charcoal, wood, glue, wax, book and magazine pages and whatever vintage papers and materials she has can find.

She starts with a hand cut wood board, an old cigar box or game board covered with vintage papers, it’s then painted, distressed, and finally each piece is covered in layers of wax to protect them. Virtually all of her work is made with recycled materials, and each piece is original art.

Marian’s often adds random “lucky numbers” in her paintings because of her fascination with numbers.

Her favorite quote:

“I’m very poor at growing flowers so I decided to paint lots of them!”
