For the past 10 years Brian has been following his passion…..Creating Folk Art.
Having been surrounded by art in one fashion or another all of his life, he never contemplated creating folk art until one day he found himself flat on his back. God can do his best work when HE gets our attention….Brian had lost all of his energy and come to find out he had a thyroid condition. Not being able to work a steady job, he started painting for theraphy, Not considering that he would sell his artwork. But good things come out of bad situations.
Many of his paintings involve nature, travel and a hunger for a greater spiritual experience. He found Southern Churches filled that empltiness and breathed that fresh air into his soul. It manifests itself in his paintings.
I met Brian at Slotin’s Folk Fest in Atlanta in 2013. Atlanta is The Mecca for avid folk art It sets you free from restrictions and allows you to “think outside of the box” or just “Go ahead and try it”….
Brian says: “I have a wide range of painting techniques from the conventional oil on canvas, acrylic on board, to the more unorthodox method of mixed media collage using found objects. Reusing materials in many ways complements my style of art whether it's through a handmade frame or using repurposed materials as the canvas. You can find tin, tiles, wood and metals dispersed in the making of many artworks with my name on them.”
