ALAN the PORTRAIT GUY

Alan was raised in a family of artistic people – and he naturally started drawing when he was about 9. His room as a child was covered with bookshelves, floor to ceiling – and he read everything he could get his hands on. From Mark Twain to Charles Lindbergh to James Whitcomb Riley, he learned about a wide variety of people and places and things. He draws on many different interests in his work but now he has become intrigued with the Blues and other musicians. His work is bright and filled with color and he puts his heart into each and every piece. He lives in the St. Louis area and does his painting along the banks of the Mississippi, where the Blues were almost as popular as in the deep south and where - just a few blocks from the river - you can find the National Blues Museum.   His pieces are nostalgic, fun, and sincere.
